J.C. Corcoran

J. C. Corcoran is a Christian of deep faith who was born in Wilmington, Delaware.  Before becoming a Christian fiction novelist, Corcoran pursued a career as a policeman.  To his credit, he graduated from two police academies.  His law enforcement career took him to Tennessee and then to Arizona, where he retired from law enforcement in 1981. After his retirement, Corcoran joined forces with a friend and worked as a private investigator in Phoenix, Arizona.  In 1988, when the call from God became stronger in his life, Corcoran moved to Texas and attended the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas.  While in Ft. Worth, Corcoran received the call from God to write his first Christian novel.  “The Biker’s Wedding” is a work of fiction based on Corcoran’s experiences as a Christian law enforcement officer in a world of criminals and misfits.

In 1992, Corcoran’s call to write “The Biker’s Wedding” was a true miracle in his life.  When he was told by a friend that he should write about his insights surrounding a biker’s wedding in Arizona, he immediately recalled the incident and thought, “Wow, what if Snake was really an angel”?  And thus began his career as a Christian novelist.

Corcoran sites several personal expectations he wants accomplish with his writing.  He bases his reasons to scripture in 2 Timothy where it says to “preach the Word”, and in Psalms when David says, “I will tell of all your wondrous deeds”.  Corcoran states, “God has done so many things in my life and I want to do the same thing.  I want to tell people that they must have faith in God and to trust Him.  I hope my stories will reflect that message”.

“The Biker’s Wedding” was started in the summer of 1992 and completed in 2004.  There were times during those years that Corcoran would go several months without progress because he just didn’t like what he was writing.  But God would not let him, or his story, go.  Corcoran knew in his heart that he needed to finish the book.  He states that “there were many times of rebellion” against completing what God had called him to write.

Released by Xulon Press, the world’s largest Christian publisher, “The Biker’s Wedding” will be the first of a three-book series.  Corcoran writes in a down to earth style that is easy to read and will draw you instantly into the drama of the story of a renegade Arizona biker’s gang as they gather for a wedding.  Corcoran weaves a story of intrigue and adventure as Christian policeman, Tracey Dodd, walks the Christian road in a world of criminals and misfits. His characters are vivid and will leave a lasting impression. Two sequels, "Lest We Forgive" and "Rejected!", will follow “The Biker’s Wedding”

"Lest We Forgive", book two in the series, will be total fiction. Corcoran is now in the process of writing “Lest We Forgive” and states that book two is being written with the emphasis that we must be willing to forgive the wrongs people do to us.  In “Lest We Forgive”, policeman Tracey Dodd’s new love is attacked and Dodd then goes into a rage that will carry him through the rest of the book.

"Rejected!", book three in the series, will be fiction based on Corcoran’s own childhood.  It will be a journey that takes Tracey Dodd back into his past through childhood and growing up in a dysfunctional home.  Dodd’s father is a brutally abusive drunkard and his mother a sickly woman who spends most of her days in bed.  Dodd is totally rejected by his father and also by his mother’s indifference to his plight.  Dodd will only find acceptance when he finds a relationship with Christ.

Currently, Corcoran makes his home in Joshua, Texas.  He is the proud dad of four daughters: Jessica, Jeannette, and Jacquelyn who live in the Ft. Worth, Texas area and Joanna who lives in Springfield Massachusetts.

Introducing Author J C Corcoran

There’s a New Sheriff
in Town

Can a fictional cop call down God’s wrath on outlaw bikers?

LONGWOOD, FL— Tracey Dodd went from being a big city police sergeant to a small-town cop. But being in a small town is no guarantee you can avoid big trouble. And Tracey has his share—from the death of his wife at the hands of a drunk driver to clinging to the side of a mountain trying to bust up a drug deal. Then the real trouble begins: two killers escape from the state prison and are rumored to be coming his way; his investigation into real estate fraud brings some surprise results; and when a band of outlaw bikers comes to their small town for a wedding celebration, Tracey discovers he's the only cop left in town. His faith in God, and prayer, have always brought him through troubles before, but will that be enough this time? Find out in J.C. Corcoran’s The Bikers Wedding ($15.99, paperback, 1-60034-051-2), an entertaining novel about the power of prayer and putting your faith and trust in God.

Says Corcoran, “I learned the hard way how to live by faith. It took 12 years to complete The Bikers Wedding, not because it's that complicated a story, but because I lost my sense of faith and turned my back on God. And it took 10 years for God to get through to me that I was doing it all wrong. All I had to do was trust Him in everything. The most important thing you can say about me is that I have finally learned how to live by faith and trust.”

Corcoran, a former cop, private investigator, and preacher, has gleaned a number of stories to tell from on-the-job experiences—all dealing with the before and after of meeting God. And the inspiration for The Bikers Wedding? “I lived it,” Corcoran said. Both the novel and its two sequels came straight out of his experiences as a police officer.
